Naturally grown lotus seed pods, for use in terrariums, vivariums, bioactive enclosures, crafts, and natural displays. Their unique structure provides visual interest while creating hiding, climbing, and exploration opportunities for invertebrates and other small animals.
Each lotus pod is individually cleaned, inspected, and prepared by hand prior to heat processing. Due to the nature of their storage before being processed, moths like to create small silky cocoons in some of them. I do my best to remove those since they are unsightly, but they are harmless due to the heat treatment. Isopods will consume them, however springtails will not.
All lotus pods are soaked and then heat-treated at a low 200°F for several hours to help eliminate pests while maintaining as much of the pod's natural color and structure as possible.
