Thai Red Springtails (Lobella sp.) are a tropical, surface-active species known for their deep red to crimson pigmentation and high visibility. Their striking coloration makes them one of the most visually dynamic springtail species available for display-focused bioactive systems.

They thrive in humid, shaded environments and are most active along moss and organic substrate surfaces, where their movement is easily observed.

Important Habitat Notes

Lobella sp. prefer consistently moist, humid conditions and perform best in (warm) tropical enclosures.

  • Avoid drying conditions
  • Avoid prolonged standing water
  • Best maintained in moss- and leaf-litter-rich environments

Unlike some temperate species, they are less tolerant of environmental swings and require stable humidity to thrive.
