Tropical Pink Springtails (Coecobrya sp.) are a fast-reproducing, surface-active species known for their soft pink to pale rose coloration and high visibility in dense cultures. They can be identified by a subtle light banded pattern along the body, especially under close observation.
They are extremely active and are one of the most “jumpy” species commonly kept in the hobby, quickly dispersing and establishing throughout suitable environments.
When well-established, they form active, expanding colonies across the culture surface and within the clay structure, making them a highly effective and reliable species.
- Climate: Tropical (adaptable to room temperature)
- Activity: Surface-active / substrate-active
- Visibility: Moderate to High
- Reproduction: Fast
- Behavior: Highly active; very jumpy compared to most species
- Distinguishing Traits: Soft pink coloration with light banding pattern
Species Note
Due to their high activity level and strong jumping response, these cultures do not appear as densely clustered as the other high-density cultures I offer. Individuals disperse quickly throughout the substrate rather than remaining grouped.
This is a natural characteristic of the species and does not reflect a lower population or reduced performance.
While they thrive in warm, humid environments, they may also perform well in stable room temperature conditions when humidity is maintained.
